BROLGA DREAMING (KULUMARRA - NGAR NA Framed behind glass
This painting is of a sacred site on my grandmothers country. This site had been lost for over 60 years and was found by rangers in the last 10 years. The main site is the centre circle. The background design represents the beautiful landscape around this area. the small circles are rock holes that hold water.
Brolga's do a mesmerising spectacular dance where wings and beautiful coloured feathers are on display. They dance when courting a female. This courtship then becomes a lifelong bond for both Male and Female birds. Many clan groups of the NT emulate the Brolga dance.
Brolga's like to dig up bush onions (Kinyuwurru) and mussels from the water ways called (Malangayi).
